We believe in a civil society ecosystem aligned with the Foundation’s core vision of a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society
Under Strengthening Civil Society, we support more than 30 such organisations that work on the following themes: community-based organisations, early-stage organisations and enabling civil society organisations (CSOs).
Our focus is on facilitating organically evolved leadership from the community, in order to encourage greater public participation in a larger democratic framework.
We also place equal emphasis on partners that work with early-stage organisations that recognise and bolster new ideas, energies and actors in the civil society ecosystem.

We also support organisations that work on building capacities of other organisations in the areas of leadership, governance, and basic processes such as accounting and finance, communications, data/ MIS, and legal and compliance.
Our work approach in this field includes the enabling of marginalised communities to secure citizenship rights and entitlements, reducing discrimination, violence and stigma by changing perceptions and practices, and strengthening organisations that can provide capacity building and mentoring support to smaller organisations.
We have recorded positive changes on-ground, due to the extensive work of our partners. Those in the community-based organisation theme have reached out to 5.8 lakh people through various initiatives.
Leaders of CSOs have become active in fundraising, and some have been successful in getting grants from other donors. There is also a significant increase in members and membership fee collection of the community-based organisations.
There are focused efforts on inclusive and diverse leadership, including the participation of more women and youth in the governing bodies of the partners.
We are also consolidating and expanding the work of those partners pursuing rights and entitlements with a specific focus on social welfare schemes.
