One of the most significant areas of our work under Grants is dedicated to the welfare, protection and well-being of children
Through our grants programme, we support more than 100 organisations working with some of the most vulnerable children across rural and urban parts of the country.
The spectrum of children who are vulnerable is broad, and it includes those from single-parent households, daily wage labourers, migrant families; children who live on the street, orphans, runaways and the abandoned.
Those with illnesses such as cancer and HIV, and those living in slums and underserved rural areas, too, come under the ambit of vulnerable children.

We also focus on those vulnerable children who are trafficked, subject to gender and caste/community-based discrimination, victims of child marriage and teenage pregnancy, and survivors of sexual and online abuse and domestic violence.
Children who have committed crime or in addiction is yet other vulnerable group that we focus on.
We have multiple ways of approaching the work that concerns a vast focus group as vulnerable children. One of the first steps is providing support to children in childcare institutions, namely, children’s homes and observation homes. This helps us ensure that such children have better access to nutrition, education, counselling and healthcare.
We also encourage reintegration of children/ care leavers with their families, and provide opportunities such as skills training or higher education as part of aftercare services.
We support community-based interventions such as children’s centres and groups that provide afterschool support, reading and writing for out-of-school children, nutrition and awareness on violation of child rights. The increased awareness of child rights among parents and community institutions comes forth in the number of cases filed against violations such as child labour, trafficking and so on.
We also conduct casework to rescue children, provide support for psycho-social and medical needs, legal aid and compensation. Our work in this direction has ensured a higher rate of school enrolment and retention among children who are at the risk of dropout, irregular to school or out-of-school.
In the area of Children, we work through our partners.
